Before Shots

Here are some shots that I took of how the place looks now. This week we will be painting, cleaning, moving, and throwing away, and hopefully giving this place a whole new look.
Tony Boyer, current owner of Pier 49 in Provo. Good man.
Kitchen

I didn't get a very good shot of the window boxes. Right now there are really cheesy Styrofoam cut outs of San Francisco. Those will be going.

Oven. I was up until 2 in the morning Saturday cleaning this and have cuts all over my hands now because of the wire scrubber that I used. I forgot to bring gloves, which was stupid. But this thing is all clean and shinny now!

The hall where they currently keep the pizza boxes.

Upstairs storage room.

Downstairs storage room. This is actually an improvement from what it looked like before. My sisters and I cleaned it out a few weeks ago. This thing used to be full of paint, fliers, decorations, and lots of other crap that we are still in the process of getting rid of.

One of the hallways that leads to the second bathroom which needs to be repaired.

The Menu.

Hallway.

Front of House.

The mural.
Stayed tuned for after pictures! I think some paint and rearranging is going to make a huge difference.

Progress

Here are some cheesy quotes that were strategically placed at the Tax Commission office that have been surprisingly inspiring:

"A life spent making mistakes is not only honorable but more useful than a life doing nothing."

"No dream comes true until you wake up and work."

"Success is achieved and maintained by those who try and keep trying."

Why thank you, inspiring quote makers. Things this week have been a bit crazy for me. I have had no down time, and I suspect that is how it is going to be for the next little while. I have managed to clean out the laundry room, the refrigerator in the front, take down the pier poles (Jon Boyer is a trooper), and, with a little help from my friends, clean out the attic and the storage rooms. This Saturday we are going to have a yard sale at The Fort for those of you interested in buying some holiday decorations (that is what was in the attic). I'm hoping to get the oven cleaned some time this weekend, not sure when...Tomorrow I go and make the down payment on the new sign for outside. So much to do! I'll be posting before and after pictures soon, so stay tuned for that!

Stranger Than Fiction

Stranger Than Fiction inspires me. I watch it and Little Miss Sunshine once a month I think. I love everything about the movie. Right now, I am loving the plates that are mounted on the widows of the bakery and I am thinking of doing that on my windows. I have these huge window boxes that I have no idea what to do with, but I love simplicity so I want something classic and simple. I am going to DI today to see if I can find some cool old plates to put up in my window boxes, like Stranger Than Fiction. What do you guys think?

Things are expensive

Okay kids. I am in a dillema. In order to have internet, cable/satellite, and wi-fi, the bill would be upwards of $250 a month no matter where I go. I have compared Comcast, Quest, and Veracity and all are giving me about the same prices. EXPENSIVE! Most of the time you can get internet/phone package deals, but rarely is cable/satellite included in the package, and that TV stuff costs A LOT of $$. So, for the next couple months I will only be providing either free wi-fi or TV. Right now the store does not offer internet, so it is hard to know whether that would bring customers in or not. As far as TV goes, we usually have it on ESPN and people watch, but I don't know if people are watching because they actually want to or if they are watching just because it is on. My biggest concern are the BYU games, but so far this year (and in years past), showing the BYU games in the store doesn't really bring people in. Most people get delivery on game days, and, let's be honest, most people in Provo are going to be at the games on game days, not at the pizza store. So. What do you guys think? Cable or Internet? Please respond to the survey! Thanks my dears!

Logo

Alright guys! Shelly Esplin has come up with this great logo and I am way excited about it. I think it is clean and classy; she did an excellent job! I am still organizing and researching, but things are moving forward. I am very excited about the services I plan on providing at The Parlor. Of course there will be pizza (and I think I have perfected the dough!), but there will also be karaoke nights, free Wi-Fi, a chalkboard wall in the hallway for people to draw on, and a different local artist featured every month as part of the First Friday Gallery Stroll. Lots of fun things to look forward to! The goal was to have the store open by October 1st, but there is so much that needs to be done that unfortunately we are pushing back the date to October 8th. No big deal, just plan on the 8th now!
